WebDev: Features

Project Management
WebDev provides support for managing a set of pages or a website as a project, with components which provide the standard look of your web pages being easily defined and used in all your web pages. WebDev also manages include files for your scripts, defines resource locations for image and multimedia collections, and provides support for databases and variables when using PHP scripts.

Project management facilities are available on web servers that support the server-side scripting language PHP. On other servers you can still use WebDev with the project management support disabled.

HTML Editing
WebDev provides a text editor for easy editing of HTML and server-side scripts. Web pages and their components can be downloaded from your website, edited, and then saved back to the website as easily as editing a file locally.

Remote Access
Remote access to web pages on a server can be configured using WebDev's own PHP scripting on the server, through a network drive mounted on your client machine, or using the new WebDAV Internet standard for remote authoring on the web.

Local Projects
You can keep a copy of your web pages on your local machine, edit these, and then synchronise them with those on your webserver when you connect to the Internet.

PHP Support
WebDev provides support for PHP in its management of database connections and user-defined variable values for web projects. PHP scripts can easily be integrated into web pages, and used to control overall parameters on your webiste.

Database Integration
Through the use of PHP, WebDev integrates database information into your web pages. PHP supports a wide range of SQL databases, including Oracle, Informix, Sybase, MS-SQL, Mysql and Solid.
