WebDev: Installation Instructions

Requirements

To run the WebDev client you'll need the following:
  • A PC running Windows 95/98 or Window NT 4 or above.
  • 2MB free disk space, plus room for local copies of your project files.
  • An Internet connection, either LAN or dialup, to your webserver.
Your webserver will need to be running PHP version 3.0.6 or above. In addition, to support retrieving and saving files on your server you will need at least one of the following:
  • A shared network drive mapped to your webspace on your webserver (this can be used with "local files" projects).
  • The WebDev PHP server scripts installed on your webserver (for "WebDev" projects).
  • A WebDAV-enabled webserver, with WebDAV support mapped onto your webspace (for "WebDAV" projects).
The simplest way of getting the above support is to run the Apache webserver with the PHP and mod_dav modules. Check the Links page for where to find all the relevant software.
