Lifeboat: Robert Lindsay - Launch

The first picture in the sequence shows the arrival of Arbroath's ill-fated seventh lifeboat the Robert Lindsay in July 1950.

The other pictures are of the launch on 23 June 1951 by Mary Adelaide, Dowager Countess of Dalhousie, accompanied by the Duke of Montrose. The honour guard is provided by the sea cadets of T/S Agincourt. In the picture with women in traditional fisher dress, she is talking to members of the Fisherwomans' Choir after receiving a bouquet from Margaret Swankie.

The boat was named after her benefactor, the late Robert Lindsay of Mains of Kinblethmont, and was a twin-engined 35½ footer of the Liverpool class with a crew of seven.
