Open Championship 1884: Prestwick
With Prestwick having been extended from 12 holes to 18 the previous year, this was the first time the competition would be played over two rounds rather than three. In gale force wind, Jack Simpson shot the lowest scores in both rounds (78 and 82) to beat the defending champion, Willie Fernie, and Douglas Rolland by four strokes. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
