Duncan McCulloch
Troon
Duncan McCulloch A Troon native, born there in 1894, he was a caddie at Troon and won 1st prize at the caddies' and greenkeepers' annual picnic in 1907, a mashie presented by Willie Fernie.

McCulloch served his apprenticeship with the future Open Champion, George Duncan, down south at Hanger Hill.

He enlisted on the outbreak of WWI and spent five years in the Army.

He returned to Troon after the war and was a clubmaker with J C White at the St Meddans Municipal course, starting up in business himself there after White’s death in 1923.

Hee was appointed professional at Troon in February 1924 and remained there until 1953. He represented Scotland in international matches on numerous occasions during the 1930s and was Scottish Professional Champion in 1930.
